VINDICATE YOUR NAME
All that we have prayed over the course of this month could be summarized by saying, “Vindicate your name, Lord!” Our glorious God deserves all praise from all people and from all nations; yet there are so many places around the world where the name of Jesus is mocked rather than worshiped. Let our prayer always be that God would receive glory through his gospel as people no longer misrepresent and blaspheme the name of the Son of God, but instead honor him as Savior and Lord.
PRAISE
“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Phil 2:9–11)
Father, you sent your Son into the world in order to demonstrate and accomplish your perfect justice and love through the cross and the empty grave. You will be worshiped forever. All glory goes to you!
CONFESSION
“… for they loved the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.” (John 12:43)
Forgive us, Lord, for seeking our own praise, rather than your glory. Our selfish hearts are “glory thieves.” Work in our hearts so that we will delight in your eternal glory rather than our own temporary praise.
THANKS
“I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” (Isa 43:6–7)
Thank you, Father, that you have made us for your glory. Our eternal destiny is to serve and worship you, to glorify you. And that is also our joy and fulfillment. Your glory is our good!
REQUEST
“Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name.” (John 12:27–28)
So Father, we want to conclude our prayers for North Africa by saying: Vindicate your name! Let the gospel of Jesus go forward in power so that you will receive the joyful reverence you deserve from all peoples. May your name no longer be misunderstood and trampled upon, but glorified throughout North Africa.
