AN EXTENDED FAMILY
Sal is part of an extended family who live together in one large house. He and his brothers, all grown with families of their own, are highly religious and Islamic. Like most North Africans, they’re quite confident in their standing before God and see themselves as good, upstanding people. But he and other family members have also been hearing the gospel from multiple people. While they have not yet been highly receptive, they are willing to listen. We pray that the Spirit would do a great work in this family and many others like it.
PRAISE
“For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.” (1 Cor 15:9)
Lord, you in your mercy can save those who seem the hardest to the gospel. Even Saul the persecutor had his eyes opened to see and believe in Jesus. Nothing is too difficult for you!
CONFESSION
“But Ananias answered, ‘Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints at Jerusalem. And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.’” (Acts 9:13–14)
Forgive us, Lord, for thinking that some people are too hard for you. We see only the outside, but you are the one who gives life to dead hearts.
THANKS
“I love you, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.” (Ps 18:1–3)
Thank you, Lord, for how you have rescued us. Every one of us was dead in sin, and you gave us new life in Christ. Your kindness is so perseverant!
REQUEST
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10)
Father, save the lost. Let those who seem so far from you be brought near by your saving call on their lives. Rescue Sal and his family. May he and his brothers and their families continue to hear the good news. Let them constantly remember what they have heard and be convicted and hounded by it. Bring about the fruit of repentance and faith in their lives for your glory.
