PEOPLE GROUP FOCUS: THE URAMIT
The Uramit are another people group in North Africa. They’re isolated geographically and culturally, and they practice the majority religion differently than other North Africans do. There are a handful of Uramit believers, and one local family reaching out to them. A number of books of the Bible are being translated into Uramit.
PRAISE
“They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” (Isa 11:9)
Lord, your glory is filling the whole world as even the most isolated peoples in the world are hearing of your gospel. The good news of Jesus is for all peoples.
CONFESSION
“For if I preach the gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!” (1 Cor 9:16)
Paul was faithful to preach your gospel, Lord, and fulfill the commission you gave him. Forgive us, Lord, for our apathy and reticence to proclaim your Word and to take it to the most distant of people groups.
THANKS
“And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.” (1 Thes 2:13)
Thank you, Father, for the work you have done among the Uramit. Only a few years ago, there were no known believers among them. Now there is a group of believers and active work among them! You are faithful to keep your promises and bear fruit from the preaching of your Word.
REQUEST
“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (Eph 4:1–3)
Lord, may the Uramit believers uphold their unity in Christ by loving, forgiving and preferring one another. May they function as a church and boldly proclaim your Word to their people.
